Chapter 684

"Mr. Powell! Are you hurt!"

Nathaniel, who had just parked nearby, stared at Dominic with panic in his eyes.

Dominic had mentioned wanting to drive around without specifying a destination, so Nathaniel took the initiative to head toward Willow Mall near Evelyn's apartment.

Just as they entered the underground parking before the car fully stopped, Nathaniel witnessed the unthinkable. When Dominic saw Evelyn being chased by a pickup truck, he threw open the door and lunged forward.

Dominic's legs had barely recovered enough to walk, still healing from previous injuries, when this accident happened.

Tears welled in Nathaniel's eyes.

The man's luck was too cruel! He'd been struck and thrown through the air trying to intercept that truck!

The windshield had shattered completely. Dominic must have sustained severe injuries!

Damian Cross never expected someone would suddenly dart in front of his vehicle at the critical moment.

Glass shards flew into his eyes, blurring Damian's vision.

Despite the pain, Damian immediately tried to reverse the truck.

Now that he'd been spotted and knowing mall security's reputation, he needed to escape fast or face another prison term. Everything appeared crimson as he rubbed his stinging eyes.

But just as Damian prepared to flee, Dominic planted one foot on the truck's hood and vaulted onto the vehicle.

Blood still trickled from Dominic's lips, but his piercing gaze resembled a demon emerging from hell to claim souls. One look could make anyone's blood run cold.

For reasons unknown, Damian suddenly felt terror realizing this man looked familiar.

He must have seen him in prison.

Rumors said this man had spent ten years inside, feared by all. Even guards took detours to avoid him. During Damian's own incarceration, he'd heard countless stories about this legend.

But shortly after Damian's imprisonment, Dominic had been released.

What baffled Damian was why this man suddenly appeared at the mall, deliberately putting himself between Evelyn and danger.

He'd heard Dominic was ruthless but never known him to play hero.

Dominic kicked the windshield again, shattering it completely. With a cold smirk, he reached in and hauled Damian straight from the driver's seat. Caught off guard by such skill, Damian found himself airborne before he could react.

Dominic executed a perfect judo throw, slamming Damian hard onto the pavement.

With a sickening thud, Damian's head struck first. Stars exploded in his vision as pain radiated through his skull.

Dominic jumped down, planting his shoe on Damian's face and grinding down hard.

"Did you ask permission before touching what's mine?" Dominic's icy voice sounded like a death sentence.

A warm wetness spread beneath Damian, followed by the acrid smell of urine. Dominic's demeanor had literally scared the piss out of him.

Nathaniel rushed over, restraining Damian while eyeing Dominic worriedly. "Mr. Powell! You're bleeding badly! Where are you injured?"

Externally Dominic appeared unharmed, but blood kept pouring from his mouth, staining his white shirt crimson. Nathaniel knew the truth - Dominic had collided with the vehicle at full speed. This was internal bleeding!

Far deadlier than any surface wound!

Dominic remained silent, turning toward Evelyn.

Evelyn knelt clutching her stomach, a growing pool of blood beneath her.

"Evelyn! Evelyn! What's wrong!"

Her phone lay discarded, still connected to Alexander's call. His frantic voice came through the speaker, ignored by all.

Evelyn's abdomen contracted painfully while her lower back throbbed where the bumper had struck. The agony left her breathless, forcing shallow gasps. Ethan moved to lift her.

Dominic stepped forward. "Don't you dare touch her!"

Blood continued dripping from Dominic's lips as he advanced, leaving crimson footprints with each unsteady step.

Though his vision blurred and legs wobbled, he shoved Ethan aside to reach Evelyn.

"Stay with me," Dominic rasped, "I'll get you to the hospital."

But Evelyn, consumed by pain, couldn't hear him over the ringing in her ears.

Ethan blocked Dominic's path. "You're bleeding out! How can you help anyone? Let me handle this!" Raised in the Caldwell family's privilege, Ethan expected instant obedience.

Never had he witnessed such violence or seen someone risk their life so recklessly.

He'd been closest to Evelyn when the truck approached, yet hesitated at the critical moment.

If he'd acted as fearlessly as Dominic, he could have pulled Evelyn to safety first.

Those seconds of hesitation had cost Evelyn her injury. Guilt gnawed at Ethan, who now sought redemption.

Steadying his breathing, Ethan bent to lift Evelyn.

Dominic's cold laugh sent chills down spines. Despite his pallor, his grip was iron as he seized Ethan's arm. "Know your place. You lost your chance, so stop pretending to care. Understood?" The words darkened Ethan's face with humiliation.

Lost his chance?

"I just want to help."

"As if you've earned the right."

Their gazes locked in silent combat, tension crackling between them.

Suddenly, a woman's piercing scream echoed from a nearby stairwell.

Something heavy thudded against concrete.

Vanessa Hart clutched her stomach, crying out, "Help... someone help me!"
