Chapter 520

The dormitory was compact but functional - a cozy one-bedroom apartment spanning just over 300 square feet. Every essential amenity had been thoughtfully arranged within its limited space.

Flushed memories surfaced in Evelyn's mind, causing her to avert her gaze awkwardly. "Stop that. This is my private dorm room."

Alexander had only secured her this single occupancy accommodation due to her pregnancy. His frequent visits were becoming increasingly inappropriate.

"It's getting late. Shouldn't you be heading to work?" Evelyn suggested, attempting to redirect the conversation.

"So eager to dismiss me?" Alexander arched an eyebrow, amusement dancing in his eyes.

"What if I purchased this entire orchestra? Then no one could question my presence here."

After all, objections would cease immediately if the property became his.

Evelyn responded with an entertained smile. "Purchase it? This is a government-funded orchestra. The process wouldn't be that straightforward."

She recalled Richard's previous remarks about the countless individuals vying to study under Leonard - all hoping to ascend Cresthaven's social hierarchy. Every musician in this orchestra was extraordinarily talented. These weren't ordinary people by any measure.

Certainly, others had attempted acquisitions before, yet none had succeeded.

After sharing some intimate moments in the confined space, Alexander finally departed, though his reluctance was palpable.

Evelyn, her cheeks still tinged pink, changed into an elegant full-length gown and collected her cello, preparing to report to Leonard.

"Didn't you hear? Mr. Herty departed on a business trip this morning. He's currently absent from the orchestra."

The practice facility was segmented into various classrooms according to instrument classifications.

Outside the cello practice room, a refined young gentleman nodded politely at Evelyn. "What did you need to see him about? I'd be happy to relay your message upon his return."

The young man possessed an aristocratic bearing and studied Evelyn with quiet curiosity.

Noticing the cello case she carried, he ventured, "Are you here for instruction with Mr. Herty?"

Evelyn confirmed with a nod.

Before the young man could respond, a delicate feminine laugh echoed from within the practice room.

"So many aspire to study under Mr. Herty, yet he's famously selective. How did security permit another random admirer to wander in?"

Every musician in this orchestra came from privilege and exceptional talent, these young women carrying themselves with inherent superiority.

As the first girl spoke, others quickly joined the chorus: "Honestly, these constant interruptions during practice sessions are becoming unbearable."

The group clearly deferred to their outspoken leader.

Leonard's prestige attracted countless opportunists seeking favor, yet he maintained an exclusive circle of protégés.

In all his years of teaching, Leonard had only ever accepted one apprentice - now an internationally celebrated cellist who had recently performed at one of the world's most prestigious concert venues abroad.

Therefore, when Evelyn implied she was here for private instruction, they naturally categorized her with the usual social climbers and regarded her with disdain.

The lead girl waved dismissively. "Just leave before we summon security."

Evelyn pressed her lips together gently. "But Mr. Herty specifically requested I wait for him here."

This declaration only deepened their skepticism. "You can't possibly be serious."

Leonard almost never conducted private lessons. His masterclasses were so rare that students competed fiercely for spots, with perhaps two sessions occurring annually at most.

Evelyn's claim of a personal invitation struck everyone present as utterly preposterous.
