Chapter 587
The guard swallowed hard, his professionalism barely holding against the man's chilling presence.
"Handing over this key isn't something I can do lightly," he managed, voice wavering.
Dominic's gaze turned glacial. "I suggest you rethink that answer."
Before the guard could speak, Dominic's fist connected with his jaw.
"Waste of time," Dominic muttered, plucking the keys from the guard's belt. He strode toward the concert hall without a backward glance.
In the dim lounge, Evelyn hugged her knees, shivering violently. A faint sound made her freeze.
Footsteps.
Getting closer.
She scrambled up, but her numb legs betrayed her. She crashed into a side table, sending a vase shattering across the floor.
Pain lanced through her as she clutched her bleeding knee.
Dominic paused mid-step at the crash. He sprinted toward the noise.
Just as Evelyn examined her injury, blinding light flooded the room as power returned.
Before she could react, strong arms yanked her against a hard chest. An unfamiliar cedar-and-spice scent made her stiffen.
The arms tightened like steel bands.
She looked up—and gasped.
Dominic Powell stared back, eyes gleaming with dark amusement.
Her gaze dropped to his legs in shock. "You—you're walking?"
His lips curved. "Thanks to you." His thumb brushed her cheekbone. "Miss me?"
Evelyn's mind reeled. "How did you even know I was here?"
"Call it... fate."
She scowled. The man spoke in riddles.
Outside, Alexander Whitmore's car screeched to a halt. He stormed toward the entrance, grabbing the first guard he saw.
"Where are the damn keys?"
The guard sighed. After tonight's chaos, what was one more intruder?
"Some psycho took them five minutes ago."
Isabella Morgan trailed behind, adjusting her dress. "Alexander, slow down!" she called.
He didn't even glance back, disappearing into the building.
Inside, Dominic studied Evelyn's blue-tinged lips and shaking hands.
Without a word, he shrugged off his coat and draped it over her shoulders. "Wear it."
Evelyn hesitated—then surrendered to the warmth. As feeling returned, realization struck.
Dominic Powell had just saved her.
Again.
