Chapter 534

Alexander remained seated in the car.

With just a subtle nod from him, Simon immediately stepped out of the front seat.

He grabbed Isabella's luggage and began walking ahead. "Ms. Morgan, allow me to escort you to your dormitory."

Isabella shot Alexander a disappointed glance but knew better than to argue further.

She gave a tight smile. "Thank you, I appreciate that."

Evelyn slid into the car beside Alexander.

Discovering Isabella worked at the same orchestra had been the last thing she expected.

Evelyn could sense the hostility radiating from Isabella.

This was going to make orchestra rehearsals... interesting.

As Simon's absence stretched on, Evelyn kept glancing at her watch.

The performance started at precisely 8 PM, and it was already 7.

If they hurried, they might still have time for a quick dinner.

Alexander draped his arm around Evelyn's shoulders. "You've been quiet. What's troubling you?"

"Just thinking about Isabella."

Alexander's eyes darkened. He'd noticed Evelyn's mood shift the moment she saw Isabella in his car.

He pulled her closer, inhaling the floral scent of her hair.

"I only gave her a ride because we were going the same direction. Don't read too much into it."

"She just returned from abroad and claimed she didn't have any ride-sharing apps installed. She was flagging me down from halfway across the parking lot - I couldn't just drive past."

Evelyn pressed her lips together. "How would you know she doesn't have ride-sharing apps?"

"She told me herself."

Alexander's expression grew serious. He understood Evelyn's concern.

"Evelyn, I have zero interest in her. You're my wife. The only woman in my heart. Nothing could ever happen between us."

As he spoke, Alexander leaned in closer.

He closed his eyes and cradled the back of her head, his lips seeking hers.

After a week apart, his longing overflowed like champagne from an overfilled glass.

He'd missed her terribly.

In this moment, with Evelyn's doubts swirling, no words could reassure her like this physical connection.

Alexander wanted his actions to demonstrate how irreplaceable she was to him.

Their breaths mingled as Evelyn's pulse quickened.

In the intimate confines of the car, every sensation felt magnified.

All Alexander wanted was to pull Evelyn close and kiss her as if the world had ceased to exist.

His lips met hers in a searing kiss.

"Wearing lipstick?"

He could taste the faint strawberry flavor of her gloss.

Evelyn's cheeks flushed. Even though they were alone, they were still parked on a public street.

With a playful grin, Alexander took her hand and drew her nearer.

Gazing at her with adoration, he murmured, "You look stunning. That shade suits you perfectly."

His eyes locked with hers. "Please don't be upset about Isabella. Evelyn, you've always been so understanding. Don't put me in this difficult position."

From Alexander's perspective, the situation was complicated.

Isabella was his late friend's sister with no one else to turn to, and he'd promised to watch over her.

Meanwhile, his wife kept pressing him about it.

After a long pause, Evelyn released a slow breath. She decided to trust Alexander this once.

"Alright," she said softly.

Alexander pulled Evelyn closer, his eyes brimming with affection.

He guided her to sit beside him and enveloped her in a warm embrace, silently conveying his love and gratitude.
