Chapter 455
"I didn't give him a straight answer," Evelyn said with a careless shrug.
"That's cruel," Sophie gasped, clutching her friend's arm. "You're stringing him along! You know Dominic has feelings for you, yet you refuse to be honest with him."
Evelyn shook her head, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear. "It's not worth the effort. He's being completely irrational."

"Well, that's true. You two aren't back together... But tell me, is there any chance you'd reconsider?" Sophie's grip tightened as the wind played with Evelyn's dark locks.
"How could we?" Evelyn scoffed. "He still hasn't explained what's going on with Sophia. And every time I remember he was once involved with Zoe, it makes my skin crawl. I'd rather be alone forever than go back to him."
"I don't blame you for feeling that way," Sophie huffed. "If he didn't care about Zoe, he shouldn't have gotten her pregnant! That's exactly why I keep calling him a scumbag. How dare he act like some devoted lover now? Disgusting!"
Evelyn let out a dry laugh. "I used to get furious just thinking about him, but today... I don't feel as angry. Something ridiculous happened, actually. He said he wants to be my lover just to ruin my current relationship so I can't get married."
Sophie froze for a full three seconds before bursting into uncontrollable laughter.
"Are we talking about the same Dominic Blackwood?" she wheezed, clutching her stomach. "My husband would never believe me if I told him this!"
"Maybe he'd had too much to drink," Evelyn mused, still processing the absurdity of it all.
Dominic could be shameless at times, but this level of childishness was unheard of.
"He only had one bottle. There's no way he was that drunk." Sophie wiped tears from her eyes. "He's obsessed with you but can't have you, so the thought of you marrying someone else is driving him mad. You'd better pray you don't meet your soulmate anytime soon, or things are going to get very... complicated."
Evelyn tilted her head back, gazing at the star-studded sky. The constellations twinkled like scattered diamonds.
'I just hope everything goes smoothly at Sophie's wedding tomorrow,' she thought.
Morning arrived in the blink of an eye.
Sophie and Adrian's wedding was being held at the most luxurious five-star hotel in Ravenshore.
Lily and Henry woke at dawn, demanding to be taken to the hotel immediately to see their mother. Michael had no choice but to drag himself out of bed to chauffeur the excited children.
To their surprise, guests had already begun arriving in droves, filling the hotel restaurant with lively chatter.
"Stay close to me and don't wander off," Michael warned, gripping a steaming cup of coffee. "I know you're both smart, but we can't take risks. Your mom's making serious money now. What if some creep tries to kidnap you for ransom?"
Fear flashed across Lily and Henry's faces. Terrified by the thought, Lily immediately clutched Michael's sleeve while Henry grabbed a plate and headed straight for the buffet.
Suddenly, a hand landed on Henry's shoulder. He turned to see a woman with piercing blue eyes staring down at him.
"Henry Thorne, I know everything," Sophia purred, seizing his wrist. "You're my brother's son, which makes me your aunt."
Henry gaped at her, too stunned to pull away.
"I haven't told Dominic yet," she continued, her grip tightening. "But from now on, you'll call me Aunt Sophia."
Henry yanked his arm free with icy precision. "You're claiming to be Dominic Blackwood's sister? Prove it."
