Chapter 452

Evelyn's gaze locked onto Dominic's strikingly handsome yet impassive face, her anger rendering her momentarily speechless. In the past, she would have argued fiercely, but her weakened state drained her of the energy to fight.

If Dominic insisted on shamelessly staying in her room, there was little she could do. The man had clearly abandoned all sense of dignity.

Dominic frowned, surprised by her subdued reaction. "Was I not clear enough? Or has she already discussed this with Eric?" he wondered darkly.

"Evelyn Thorne, I won't release you no matter who you end up with," he threatened, his voice low and dangerous. "You're not marrying anyone else while I still draw breath."

His words barely registered. Marriage was the furthest thing from her mind, making his threats meaningless.

"Are you that desperate to be the 'other man'?" she mocked, meeting his gaze directly.

A flicker of discomfort crossed Dominic's features at her barb.

"If I'm in a relationship with Eric and you keep harassing me, then you're nothing but a homewrecker," Evelyn pressed, seizing his momentary silence.

To her astonishment, Dominic recovered swiftly. "So what if I am?" he drawled, his lips curling. "I don't mind playing that role."

'Unbelievable,' she thought. 'The man has no shame.'

Pushing past him, Evelyn moved to the bed and retrieved her skincare products. Pregnancy had forced her to abandon her usual routine - the scents became unbearable, the ingredients potentially harmful.

After weeks of parched skin, Sophie had gifted her a specially formulated set - fragrance-free and pregnancy-safe. The relief had been immediate.

Dominic watched her apply the products with growing suspicion. This newfound skincare regimen? Definitely for another man.

The Evelyn he knew barely bothered with such routines after showers.

Feeling his stare, she looked up. "What?" She snapped the lid shut. "Need something else? Surely you're not planning to sleep here tonight?"

Her words reminded him of the wine's lingering effects. His head swam slightly as he strode forward and sat boldly on the edge of her bed.

"I can't?" he challenged.

"Do you really think three adults could fit on this bed?" she countered.

Dominic's confusion showed as he assessed the spacious but insufficient bed. "Who exactly are you planning to sleep with tonight?"

"Sophie, obviously!" Evelyn gestured to the emerald clutch on the dresser. "That's her purse."

Dominic sprang up as if electrocuted.

Evelyn suppressed a laugh. She might escape him tonight, but what about tomorrow? Next week?

She'd assumed their last confrontation would have broken him. Instead, his obsession seemed to intensify. She'd never encountered such relentless determination.

Sobering instantly, Dominic turned on his heel and left without another word.
