Chapter 241
This was Dominic's golden opportunity to have a meaningful conversation with Evelyn.
"Sophia and..."
He started speaking, but the photo on Evelyn's phone screen caught his eye.
Belonging to N?velDrama.Org.
"Who is this man?"
He looked vaguely familiar.
Dominic kept staring at the photo.
He was certain he'd seen the man somewhere before, but couldn't place him.
Evelyn yanked her phone back.
"Some things never change. Still as domineering as ever. Is this some midlife crisis thing?"
She stuffed her phone into her purse, then taunted, "He's a rising star I've been following lately. Gorgeous, isn't he? And so young. Exactly my type these days."
Dominic clenched his jaw in fury.
Did she just call him old?
He'd planned to have a serious talk with her, but clearly that wasn't happening!
Apparently she only had eyes for younger men now!
"What were you going to tell me earlier?" Evelyn asked.
Seeing Dominic's angry expression lifted her mood. "Nothing!" Dominic snapped coldly. "Just eat!"
The lunch turned into an uncomfortable affair.
While Dominic paid the bill, Evelyn left with Henry.
At St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Zoe Montgomery stared at her test results as fresh tears spilled down her cheeks.
The entire morning had felt like an endless nightmare.
The worst part? Waking up to realize the nightmare was reality!
She was carrying Julian Whitmore's child!
Exiting the hospital, Zoe started brainstorming solutions.
There had to be a way out of this mess!
When life closes a door, it opens a window somewhere.
As long as no one discovered the baby's true father, the situation wasn't as dire as it seemed.
Besides, Dominic still needed her expertise to treat Sophia's condition.
No matter how bad things got, she'd never sink as low as Evelyn.
This thought calmed her somewhat.
Returning home, Zoe collapsed onto her bed.
Her head pounded, but sleep eluded her no matter how hard she squeezed her eyes shut.
Thirty minutes later, she called Julian.
"I need to sleep with Dominic," Zoe revealed her plan. "That way we can pass the baby off as his."
Julian was stunned into silence, then panicked.
"That's... possible. But what if Uncle demands a DNA test after the birth? We'd be exposed!"
"I have a plan! Just follow my lead!"
"Alright! I won't question you. I'll do whatever you say," Julian surrendered, afraid to say more. "But how exactly do you plan to get my uncle into bed? He's not an easy target."
"Do I look like I have all the answers?" Zoe snapped. "Figure something out! Unless you want your uncle discovering this is your child!"
"Got it!" Julian whined. "I'll come up with something immediately."
That afternoon, Evelyn received a call from Sophie.
"Evelyn, Mike told me about your surprise birthday party."
Evelyn rubbed her temples. "That fool is throwing parties in my name again!"
Sophie burst out laughing. "I think he just wants an excuse to party and is using your birthday."
"Obviously... Did he call you too?"
"Yes! I'll definitely be there this weekend. Are you inviting Dominic this time? He was quite upset about missing your last party," Sophie said. "He even booked the adjacent banquet hall. So petty!"
Evelyn groaned. "We just had another fight. Doubt he'll want to come."
"What happened this time?"
"Long story."
"Got it. Should I have Adrian invite him? If he's interested, you could extend the invitation," Sophie suggested, then added with a chuckle, "I heard you accepted his gift. Seems rude not to invite him after that."
